Princess Cruises Adds Barbados Homeport for 2027–2028 Southern Caribbean Season
Princess Cruises is expanding its 2027 and 2028 Southern Caribbean programme with the addition of Barbados as a new homeport, giving guests even more flexibility when planning their winter sun escape.
Holidaymakers will now be able to choose between sailing roundtrip from San Juan, Puerto Rico or roundtrip from Barbados, opening up fresh options for travellers seeking convenient Caribbean departures.
Across the expanded programme, more than 30 voyages will visit 15 destinations.
Crown Princess will operate January to March 2027.
Emerald Princess will sail from November 2027 through March 2028.
Itineraries range from six to nine nights, with the majority being seven-night sailings.
A Big Win for UK & European Guests
Emerald Princess
The addition of Barbados as a homeport is particularly good news for UK and European travellers. Direct flights to Barbados operate from Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham, allowing guests to start their Caribbean holiday without flying to — or transiting through — the USA.
Flights can be booked independently or via Princess Cruises’ Plane Sailing service, which offers added peace of mind including late-arrival protection.
All itineraries include a call to San Juan, with a rotating mix of standout islands and hidden gems including Antigua, Dominica, Grenada, Martinique, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Tortola.
Eithne Williamson, Vice President UK, Ireland & EMEA at Princess Cruises, said the Barbados expansion adds “even greater variety” to the highly sought-after Southern Caribbean programme while providing increased convenience for UK guests.”
Example Fares
A seven-night Southern Caribbean sailing on Crown Princess departs 12 March 2027 from Barbados, calling at San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Dominica and Grenada. Fares start from £699pp.
A seven-night Christmas sailing on Emerald Princess departs 24 December 2027 roundtrip Barbados, visiting San Juan, Tortola, St. Kitts, Dominica and Grenada. Fares start from £759pp.
The new roundtrip Barbados voyages go on sale Thursday 5 March 2026 at 8:00am.
🌴 Cruise Addicted View
This is a very smart move from Princess. For UK and European cruisers looking to avoid flying to or transiting through the United States, Barbados departures make the Southern Caribbean far more accessible and straightforward.
With direct UK flights and classic island-hopping itineraries, these sailings are likely to be particularly popular with winter sun seekers wanting convenience without compromise.
