Cathys on Celebrity Millennium Seoul to Yokohama Day 1

Celebrity Millennium

Celebrity Millenium Day 1 Incheon Harbour, Seoul, Korea

After a great couple of days in Seoul we took a transfer from the hotel to Incheon port. Embarkation was pretty seamless, lots of happy smiling, people. Luggage arrived quickly so we unpacked, did our virtual muster, visited our muster station and basically got all our settling in chores done before we sailed away from grey, breezy Incheon Harbour and set off for our first day at sea. Next stop Jeju island, Korea. I promise I wasn’t as miserable as I look in the picture, I was just concentrating on not dropping my phone 😂

We were pleasantly surprised by our refurbed Aqua room - a very impressive refit that has made the room more spacious. It was done for the Asian market last year, which is obvious by the reduced height of the wardrobe space - even my ‘short’ (knee length) dresses touch the wardrobe floor as do all Tony’s shirts in his short hanging section! But we have LOADS of drawers, shelves and a glass fronted unit to store all our possessions in, very impressive. We are on Deck 9 so, as with all the standard Aqua cabins , we have a big overhang above us. we knew in advance and had made the call that it might provide a bit of welcome shade, but I must admit I wish we were on Deck 11 with an unimpeded view!

First night ran slightly askew as usual, as everyone tried to work out what they were doing - we are eating in Blu, the Aqua class restaurant so were fairly cushioned from the worst of the chaos, and spent a pleasant evening chatting with Paula and Lewis, one of the many Aussie couples on board - oddly they don’t know you David Burgess - or maybe they’re just too embarrassed to admit it!

Next morning was foggy! Proper sea mist, very off from our balcony as we could see the sun shining on the water but absolutely nothing out to the horizon ( or above us obviously). Even when the fog cleared slightly at lunchtime, you still couldn’t see the horizon although you could see blue sky above you! Very odd! By mid afternoon it was drifting across the funnel again - it gave a strange muted feel to the day, and it was quite damp and chilly. I swam in the heated seawater hydrotherapy pool and hid in the Persian Gardens for a while, warming up on the hot stone beds - this is yet another reason I love Aqua, although its a pretty small area on Millenium, compared to the newer ships.

Our first sea day meant it was a Formal or ‘dress to impress’ night so I had a chance to break out my bargain dress, bought in Dubai, that exactly matches the decor in BLU!!

The Captains parade took place on the theatre stage just before beach performance of the evenings production show Boogie Wonderland. Its not to my choice really but I suppose its to do with the space availableon ship. There was no champagne waterfall or free cocktails - but there isn’t a large enough area to gather the whole ship in as the Atrium is filled with a glorious marble staircase. This was the venue for the late night Silent Disco, as much fun as always and a final stop before heading to bed!
